The exact clip and quote reach the desk before the wire does.  --- ## The problem: Terminal only knows what's already been typed up  A rate decision drops at 2:00pm. The press conference starts at 2:30. For the next forty-five minutes, the Fed chair is answering questions live, on air, in real time, while the Terminal is still catching up, one headline at a time, as a wire service listens, decides what matters, and types it out. That gap is where the risk lives. A single word change ("transitory" to "persistent," "not yet" to "not now") can move a position before it's ever flashed as a headline. By the time it crosses the Terminal, the market has often already reacted to the version that aired on TV. A research analyst at a mid-size global macro fund put it plainly: "We were always reading the Terminal a beat behind. By the time a headline crossed, the actual quote had already been sitting on air for two or three minutes. We just weren't watching it." ## The shift: watching the broadcast and the Terminal side by side, and trusting the broadcast  With SnapStream, that same analyst now keeps a live feed of the relevant network running next to the Terminal, with a real-time, searchable transcript scrolling underneath the video. It stops being "what does the wire say" and starts being "here's exactly what was said, timestamped, and here's how it compares to what's crossed so far." "Half the value is catching things early," the analyst said. "The other half is catching things the Terminal never picks up at all, an offhand answer to a reporter's question that never becomes a formal headline, but absolutely moves how we think about a position." ## Why it matters  For a desk trading on language, the Terminal is a lagging summary of what's already happened on air.
